Hi everyone,
If you have ever been to a demonstration at Home Depot, Home Base, or were
even planning on coming to the demonstration at Kaufman and Broad, pat
yourself on the back.
The home improvement industry and now the building industry seem to have
growing respect for the power of grassroots activism. Kaufman and Broad
today supported the terms set by the Rainforest Action Network for
eliminating the use of old growth wood for housing construction, in an
apparent effort to avoid actions and demonstrations at K&B construction
sites across the Western U.S.
We are making major strides toward eliminating the use of old growth wood,
but we must keep the pressure up. There are still many homebuilders that we
need to target in our efforts to preserve the last 20% of remaining ancient
forests.
We are now asking people to contact CENTEX and ask them to eliminate the use
of old growth wood from their houses: 1 (800)centex1
